Enjoying their tasty amaretti cookies is something I indulge in, perhaps a bit too often at my cafe, it's hard not to! Our patrons at Higher Ground feel the same about these gluten-free cookies as they go like hot cakes. When I'm in meal-mode, their one-of-a -kind savory biscottini, is great for dipping in soup, or adds a nice crunch to a salad.

About Us...

Piccola Cucina (Little Kitchen) was born from a passion for family, love, sharing and enjoying good quality food. Owned and operated by a powerhouse team of mother and daughter; this duet joined forces to deliver handmade, gourmet baked goods, using traditional family recipes. Piccola Cucina offers a selection of products that warm and comfort the soul. Having indulged in these products all of their lives, they are a reminder of the important things in life; getting back to basics, enjoying time with family and friends and making memories that last a lifetime.

What do they make?

Handmade sweet biscotti with flavour varieties such as Madagascar vanilla, Callebaut white chocolate & toasted hazelnut, black peppered espresso & slivered almonds, black mission fig and toasted pistachios to name a few.  Biscotti eating is revolutionized with Piccola Cucina; they are not hard and dry, nor do they require dunking, the flavour is different. The flavour is subtle and delicious made preservative and chemical free using only the best fresh, local ingredients. 

In addition to the sweet biscotti, a secondary product is offered.  They are called Amaretti; an angelic gluten free product that is domed shaped, crisp and crunchy outside, soft and chewy inside.  Not only is this cookie gluten free, it is also low in saturated fat and cholesterol, made with ground whole almonds. Great accompaniments to any of these products are warm beverages such as a cappuccino, espresso, latte, or cup of tea, or crumbled over a favorite dessert, ice cream or bowl of fresh fruit.

Where do they do it?

All products are manufactured in a commercial facility just outside of Winnipeg and shipped and distributed across Western Canada.

When do they make it?

All products are hand made to order.  This maintains the high integrity, quality and freshness on which the business runs on.

What is their philosophy?

To create a divine eating experience for clients by providing healthy, preservative free, flavourful sweet biscotti for the gourmet consumer of discriminating tastes.  Piccola Cucina’s vision is to set the standard for the gourmet biscotti industry in Canada.  Setting that standard means providing a memorable experience with each and every biscotto, with each and every bite, for each and every client.
